This card is an unexpected outcome of playing with the Simon Says Stamps - Circle Loops Die. I didn't know what I was going to make with it at first. I die cut a lot of them using different pattern papers. Did a lot of mix and match to found the combinations I like and finally decided I would use them to make flowers. Although I did't use all the pieces from the die cut, but each flower was made using only the die cut pieces from this circle loops die. At the end I decided to sparkle up the flowers a bit by covering the centre pieces with Faber-Castell's Glass Bead Glitter Gel. The gel is white and opaque when it is wet but turns sparkly and transparent after it is completely dried.
The different shades of greens around the edges of the card are done by rubbing multiple layers of distress inks using the mini ink blending tool. The colours I used are listed below. I started off with the lightest colour first and finished off with the darkest. After I was happy with the green shades on the edge of the card, I felt it needed just a little bit of something. So I decided to use the stamp with two leafs from the Simon Says Stamps Spring Flower stamp set and stamped around the edges of the card where the green shade are using Peacock Feathers distress ink. The stems and leafs for the flowers are from the same Spring Flower stamp set. Since the stem in the stamp set only has on leaf, I masked out and re-shaped the stamp to re-stamp the second leaf on each stem. They were then coloured with distress markers loosely.
The "Hello There" sentiment is from a Art C - Love Hello Thanks stamp and die combo. I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder on a piece of black card stock for the sentiment. To make the card pops even more, I used a turquoise card stock and stamped it with the Hero Arts Lauderdale Floral background stamp using Versamark ink to make the tone on tone DIY pattern paper.
Thank you for stoping by. Please leave me a comment, I'd love to know what you think about the card! Happy creating!
I have fun colouring this sweet and cute image from Stamping Bella using colour pencils on a piece of paper that has a lot of tooth (Ranger's watercolour paper will do too, I have linked it below). The colour scheme of this image is inspired by a watercolour painting found on Pinterest.
I used two different polka dot embossing folders for the background. The penal with small polka dots was trimmed down to be just a little bigger than the panel with the coloured image. They are put together on top of each other in an angle to make the card more interesting.
I also used Wink of Stella to add shimmers to the polka dots on the cup and the big polka dots on the background. Unfortunately, the shimmers were very hard to capture with my camera!
Thank you for stopping by. Please leave me a comment...I'd love to hear what you thing about this card. Have a wonderful and creative day!
I was busy moving my craft and art stuff to the sunny room. It is about 95% done and I decided that it is good enough and I should make my very first card in the sunny room!
The gradient background of this card was done long time ago when I was testing my Sennelier watercolour. It was done on a 140LB Winsor & Newton Artist's watercolour paper. I didn't have any use of it not until I got this beautiful Diamond background die from Poppy Stamps! To make the background more interesting, I decided to put back some of the die cut pieces!
The flowers are from Simon Says Stamp's Spring Flower stamp set. I love these flowers, they are so beautiful and so versatile. I coloured them loosely with Copic markers and fuzzy cut them out for this card. I also decided to give the bouquet some dimension by only raising the flowers with Dimensional adhesive.
Making this card was a breeze up till I have to put a happy birthday sentiment on it. I don't like black strip on this card, I want the card to be light and colourful, black doesn't go with what I want the card to feel and look like. I have tried so many other colours but none of them gave the effect I want. Finally found some velum paper and decide to use the blue one to tied the blue flowers to the card. But then I have problem deciding the colour for the happy birthday words on the blue velum paper! It took me quite a while to finally get the sentiment done!
Thank you for dropping by!
Spring cleaning ate my weekend! One good thing about it is that my daughter finally willing to give up her play kitchen. So I got to put a desk in that sunny south facing playroom of hers. This mean, I can craft in that bright room now, yeah!
I need to make a birthday card for a boy and just got a chance to finish off this very simple card today.
The background of this card is an attempt to use all the happy birthday sentiments stamps I have (which is not many). I have this idea quite a while and finally got it done! To make the card more interesting for the boy, I used Action Wobble to hold up the monsters! I do have to trim off the Action Wobble a lot for the monster, but it is so fun to wobble!
Will add links to all the materials I used on this card later!
Thank you for dropping by and have a great day :)
